Welcome to How Might We

Heavenly Father,

You are a good, good Father. Thank you for your mercy, which proclaims that we are ‘welcome’ while still far off. Thank you for your grace that runs to us, meeting us in our darkness and devastation. Thank you for your kind love that doesn’t run out or get exhausted. Thank you for constantly showing up, letting us know that we are yours and you are ours.

Father, I know some of us are weary. Or perhaps hurting and hopeless. There are some who are searching for meaning and purpose. Some are asking big questions and waiting for some sort of answer. Draw them close to you. Show them your ways and wonders. Show them that you care. Surround them with love.

Lord, as our shepherd proclaims good news this morning, I wonder how it might take root in us. How might we be reminded again of our belovedness? How might we dwell more fully in our identities found in and through you? How might your word revitalize our imagination towards the things of your Kingdom? How might we hope again that your Kingdom is arriving and in our midst? How might we look at our neighbor with the love that you have in your heart for them? How might we refuse to go into enemy mode? How can we release bitterness and unforgiveness?

Jesus, fix our eyes upon you. Lord, speak to the deepest places of our hearts and minds. Spirit of God, give us discernment and wisdom. Renew and transform us. We need you.

(TAKE THIS TIME, in quiet confession, and share with God where you need Him. Where do you need his presence, his love, his hope… whatever it may be.)

Amen.
