Love, Immeasurable — We Need You
Father,
Thank you for this day you have given us.
You are our hope, and your love is immeasurable. Help us to abide in you. We need you. In the chaos and anxiety of our day, teach us to fix our eyes on you. We need you. In the joys and sorrows that we face, let us proclaim that You are our anchor and fixed point.
We need you.
We say we need you because our culture so often teaches us unending self-sufficiency, unhealthy independence, working till we drop, pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps, and making an idol of what we do and how we do it. We need the reminder that our lives must be led in and through you, Jesus. Your Kingdom, your ways, your rhythms of rest and work, your heart, your mind, and your beautiful, eternal vision for humanity.
We need you.
Make us a people of patient endurance, drawn together by the salvation and hope that only you bring. Help us to see the needs and brokenness of those around us. Help us to love others as you have loved us. Make us a people known for our love.
For the fracturing and brokenness in our world, where violence and dehumanization still sting, please bring your shalom. Please bring your sense of wholeness and peace - we need you!
And Lord, for the spoken and unspoken prayer requests that are in our minds right now, we bring them before you, the perfect and attentive listener. WE seek your Kingdom to come and your will to be done.
We take a moment now to pray for the people and things that have popped up in our hearts this morning.
(Pray for those on your mind and in your heart.)
Amen.
